What it usually looks like on a store

This usually lives in product titles, descriptions and landing page copy: weight loss in days, guaranteed cures, results that sound certain for something that rarely happens, or claims that dispute settled science. Google's own examples are health claims such as miracle cures. When the same wording is copied across a catalog, enough flagged offers can disapprove the whole account.

What Google says

Offers disapproved because Google found misleading or unrealistic claims in them, for example promising a result that is scientifically unlikely or disputing a claim that has been proven true. If most offers in a feed are flagged, the whole account is disapproved. The matching section of the Misrepresentation policy is Unreliable claims, which gets a warning at least 7 days before any account suspension.

How to fix it

Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:

  1. Download the affected products from the Needs attention tab and look for patterns such as product categories, brands or keywords.
  2. Remove the products with misleading or unrealistic claims from your product data, and take the same claims off your website.
  3. Search the rest of your product data for those patterns, since Google's automated systems may not find every violating product.
  4. Reupload the corrected data. Request a review if you fixed the issue or disagree with it.

What to check on your website

These are the checks we run that relate to this issue. A problem in any of them can be enough on its own.

  • Claims and pressure tactics: No unverifiable "as seen on" or medical claims, guaranteed results, or fake-urgency messages.

Requesting a review

Products you edit through your upload method are re-reviewed automatically, and removed products need no review. If you disagree, you can appeal. Changes can take some time to show on the Needs attention page. Under the Unreliable claims section, Google issues a warning at least 7 days before any account suspension.
