Home / Merchant Center issues / Price or availability not shown on the product page

Does Merchant Center need the price and stock status on the product page itself?

Merchant Center landing pages must show the product's key elements, including price, currency, availability and a buy button, and they must match the product data. Start on your storefront: that's usually where the cause is.

What it usually looks like on a store

Common store patterns: the price only appears after a variant is picked, a price block that a script fills in after the page loads, quote-only products with no price at all, or a sold-out product that simply hides the buy button with no text saying it's unavailable.

What Google says

Merchant Center landing pages must show the product's key elements, including price, currency, availability and a buy button, and they must match the product data. Price must be easy to see, and any extra prices (variants, original currency, sale prices) must be clearly told apart from the advertised one. Availability must be clear for online purchase. Price and availability must not change after the first page load, because Google's crawler treats what it sees then as final. Google recommends putting price and availability in the initial HTML and in schema.org markup. A mismatch between landing page, structured data, checkout and feed leads to disapproval, which shows up as Mismatched product price or Mismatched product availability.

Submit a landing page that shows all key elements of your product, and ensure those details match with your submitted product data source. These elements include title, description, image, price, currency, availability, and a buy button.Google, About landing page requirements

How to fix it

Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:

  1. Show title, description, image, price, currency, availability and a buy button on every product landing page, matching the product data.
  2. Make the price easy to see and clearly separate any variant, original-currency or promotional prices from the advertised price.
  3. State availability clearly (for preorder/backorder, also the expected ship or availability date).
  4. Don't change price, availability or the selected variant after the page first loads; render them in the initial HTML.
  5. Add schema.org Product/Offer markup for price and availability and turn on automatic item updates.

What to check on your website

3 of our checks relate to price or availability not shown on the product page, and a problem in any one of them can be enough:

  • Price and stock shown on the page: Each product page shows its price and its availability (a buy button, or a clear "Sold out") in the page itself, not only in the markup.
  • Price matches the page: The price in your structured data and social meta tags appears on the page itself.
  • Availability matches the page: Offer availability is set with a valid schema.org value and agrees with what the page shows (no "in stock" markup on a sold-out page).

Requesting a review

Covered by the normal page-crawl checks; mismatch disapprovals are re-checked when Google recrawls the page (see mismatched-product-price / mismatched-product-availability).

Questions

Can a website scan fix "Price or availability not shown on the product page"?

Partly, by finding what's wrong on the pages reviewers open (price and stock shown on the page, price matches the page, availability matches the page), with a fix for each. Making the changes is up to you or your developer, a re-scan confirms them, and Google alone decides the review.
