Home / Merchant Center issues / Adult products not labeled (hasAdultConsideration)
Do adult products need hasAdultConsideration in their markup?
Products that are adult-oriented under Google's adult-oriented content policy must be labeled. In Merchant Center that's the adult attribute (yes/no) per product, or the account-level "Adult content" setting for sites mainly aimed at adults. In Search structured data it's hasAdultConsideration, where Google only supports the value https://schema.org/SexualContentConsideration.

What it usually looks like on a store
Stores selling intimate products often label the feed correctly but never touch the product markup, because themes don't have a field for it. Google added hasAdultConsideration to its product markup docs in May 2026, so most themes won't output it yet without an edit.

How to fix it
Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:
- Set adult = yes on each adult-oriented product in your product data (and on the whole bundle if any item in it is adult).
- If the whole site is aimed at adults, check "Adult content" under Settings > Business info > Edit business details instead.
- Add hasAdultConsideration with the value https://schema.org/SexualContentConsideration to the Product (or ProductGroup) markup of those pages.
- Keep adult products off the landing pages of non-adult products, or label those products/the site as adult.
- Don't use the adult attribute for age group (use age_group) or for alcohol (use google_product_category).
