What Google says
Google says none of your landing pages should fail to load or be under construction, and items should not lead to pages returning 4xx or 5xx status codes. It also stresses that pages must work for all locations and for Google's automated systems, that firewalls and IP blocks can stop crawlers, and that slow pages can cause crawler timeouts. Google Ads uses the name Destination not working for the same kind of problem on ads, including destinations that return an HTTP error code to Google's AdsBot crawler.

How to fix it
Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:
- Make sure a customer can check out starting from the landing page, with a working, easy-to-find buy button.
- Check that the final URL has no typos or broken redirects; use URL Inspection to check for 403 errors or firewall blocks.
- Pause items whose pages are not working, or link to a working part of the site.
- Make sure AdsBot-Google, Googlebot and Googlebot-image are not blocked in robots.txt.
- Use PageSpeed Insights to fix slow pages.
- Trigger a recrawl with Request website check or Request review.
What to check on your website
These are the checks we run that relate to this issue. A problem in any of them can be enough on its own.
- Pages load for visitors: Your homepage and product pages answer with a working page (no errors, no password page, no login wall).
- Customers can buy: Product pages have a working add-to-cart or buy button and the cart page loads securely.
- Google's crawlers are allowed: Your robots.txt doesn't block Googlebot, Storebot-Google or AdsBot-Google from your homepage or product pages.
- Broken links in your menus: Links in your header and footer lead to real pages, not 404 errors.
- No placeholder or template text: No lorem ipsum, default theme copy, sample products, "your store name" fields or coming-soon notices anywhere we looked.
Requesting a review
Google says after technical fixes it typically takes 12 to 48 hours for changes to be reflected and products approved. Google says that once technical fixes are live, a small ad edit or selecting Appeal starts a fresh crawl that usually finishes within 24 to 48 hours. Depending on the violation there may be extra verification steps and a limit on how many reviews can be requested.
Questions
Can a website scan fix "Landing page not working"?
A scan finds the website problems behind it (pages load for visitors, customers can buy, google's crawlers are allowed, broken links in your menus) and tells you how to fix each one. You still fix them on your store and then ask Google for a review where Merchant Center offers one.
