What it usually looks like on a store

A common cause is a theme or app that hard-codes InStock in the structured data, or when a product shows Sold out but the feed still says in stock.

What Google says

The availability value in product data must match what the landing page shows. Google says too many products with incorrect availability can lead to account suspension. A common cause is the delay between website updates and product data updates; Google can also update availability itself when automatic item updates are enabled.

How to fix it

Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:

  1. Make the availability in product data match the landing page and its structured data.
  2. Schedule product data updates to coincide with store updates, or use automatic item updates.
  3. Do not use out_of_stock to pause products; use the pause or excluded_destination attribute.
  4. Request a website check after fixing.

What to check on your website

These are the checks we run that relate to this issue. A problem in any of them can be enough on its own.

  • Availability matches the page: Offer availability is set with a valid schema.org value and agrees with what the page shows (no "in stock" markup on a sold-out page).
  • Product structured data: Each product page has valid Product markup (JSON-LD or microdata) with a name, image and offer.

Requesting a review

After fixing, you can request a website check to speed up reapproval (otherwise an automatic review happens later). Google may take up to 12 hours to review the website and no new request can be submitted during that period. Requesting a check requires a verified and claimed website.

Questions

Can a website scan fix "Mismatched product availability"?

A scan finds the website problems behind it (availability matches the page, product structured data) and tells you how to fix each one. You still fix them on your store and then ask Google for a review where Merchant Center offers one.
