What it usually looks like on a store

On a store this is a total that grows between the product page and payment: a handling or service fee added in the cart, a payment surcharge app, or a page that preselects a cheaper variant than the feed describes. Google compares the price on the product page with what checkout asks the shopper to pay.

What Google says

Account warning or suspension when prices on checkout pages are higher than prices on the product landing pages. Google says any extra merchant fees at checkout (service, handling, carrier fees) must be bundled into shipping costs in Merchant Center or into the base price shown on the landing page. The price must also be consistent across data source, landing page, structured data and checkout.

How to fix it

Based on Google's help pages, in plain language:

  1. Check that the feed price matches the most prominent landing page price and the structured data price.
  2. Make sure the feed price matches the variant preselected when the page loads.
  3. Fold any added checkout fees into the shipping cost or the product price.
  4. Resubmit product data and request a review.

What to check on your website

These are the checks we run that relate to this issue. A problem in any of them can be enough on its own.

  • Price matches the page: The price in your structured data and social meta tags appears on the page itself.
  • Product structured data: Each product page has valid Product markup (JSON-LD or microdata) with a name, image and offer.
  • Customers can buy: Product pages have a working add-to-cart or buy button and the cart page loads securely.

Requesting a review

Google says that once technical fixes are live, a small ad edit or selecting Appeal starts a fresh crawl that usually finishes within 24 to 48 hours. Depending on the violation there may be extra verification steps and a limit on how many reviews can be requested.

Questions

Can a website scan fix "Inaccurate prices"?

A scan finds the website problems behind it (price matches the page, product structured data, customers can buy) and tells you how to fix each one. You still fix them on your store and then ask Google for a review where Merchant Center offers one.
